Technical Finishes (Pty) Ltd

Technical Finishes was started in 1989 to establish a business which would specialize in the requirements of the floor finishing industry. This would include finishes for concrete, wood and tiles and in many instances would involve the tailormaking of products to suit specific customer needs. Our involvement in the flooring product market would draw on experience gained over the years in this field and would not be an “add-on” to some other product ranges, i.e. we would not make PVA paint or alkyd enamels! We concentrated on a niche market that at that time needed a real technology input to advance to the next level of development. Our products would also have sympathy with the requirements of the SA user where labour might not be trained to the highest degree.
Contact with the end user has been a characteristic of our business so that we can at all times understand specific needs and deliver the necessary training on site when and where required.
There was obviously a need for such a business because we thrived and grew rapidly to the point where we deemed it necessary to establish a second factory in the Cape in 1998. We had in the meantime entered into a technology agreement with a leading UK company for the supply of know-how for the local manufacture of polyurethane floor screeds and coatings with specific application in the food and related industries. These products could be made predominantly from locally available materials by ourselves. This would make them more acceptable to the market as there would not be sensitivity to exchange rates on imports.
Our product range grows with the times and the demands of our customers where we have been able to solve many difficult problems they have encountered.
We also offer a service where we custom design and manufacture products to solve a customer’s specific needs. Some of our existing customers have had us design complete product ranges for them which they then market and/or apply. These would be done on an exclusive basis for them. Others again have come to us with problems which need a product to be developed to solve a specific need in their process. Such products would also be made exclusively for them and could be custom packaged to their design.
